Audi will coordinate a new model to its lineup of luxe sports cars. The R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI Quattro will specs a V8 engine that offers 130 hp less than its big brother, the 560 hp R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI. But with a top speed of 185 mph and only a fraction of a second slower off the line, it's still PDQ.

The R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but has an available R tronic sequential manual gearbox with paddle shifters. For those that opt for the R tronic transmission, the driver is able to change gears in manual mode by using the joystick on the center tunnel or with the paddles on the steering wheel.
The 4.2-liter FSI produces 316 kW (430 hp) and launches the open-top two-seater to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 4.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 299 km/h.

Audi announced the addition of a more affordable, V8-powered version of the R8 Spyder in the beginning of July. Since then, aside from V10-based configurator images, we have yet to actually see the car. That is, until now. The maximum torque of 450 Nm (331.90 lb-ft) is readily available at the low end of the rev range, around 1,600 rpm, and remains constant up to 5,300 revolutions. These general parameters yield excellent acceleration and elasticity values.

The large turbocharger generates up to 1.2 bar of boost pressure. The intercooler downstream achieves an efficiency rate of over 80 percent. Like all Audi gasoline turbos, the 2.5 TFSI combines turbocharging technology with FSI direct injection. The marriage of these two technologies facilitates a high compression ratio (10.0:1) along with a correspondingly high efficiency ratio. Flaps in the intake tract mix the air as it flows in. The two camshafts, each adjustable by 42 degrees of crankshaft rotation, also enhance the efficiency of the mixture formation.

Audi ready to show off seven modification cars in the GTI Wörthersee Tour in Austria, Wednesday (12/5). Its naturally aspirated engine combines racing technology such as dry sump lubrication with FSI gasoline direct injection. The ten-cylinder design is the perfect synthesis for impressive top performance, mighty pulling power, and low weight. Starting in 2009, this engine will also prove its potential on the world's racetracks - in the new audi R8 GT3 Racine Car Audi is developing for customer teams in conformance with the GT3 rules.

The V10 engine in the production sports car will be almost identical in construction to the one in the racing version. Its displacement is 5,204 cc, at 6,500 rpm it delivers 530 Nm (390.91 lb-ft) of torque, at 8,000 rpm its power tops out at 386 kW (525 hp).

Audi has announced details of its hot wagon to be unveiled at the IAA frankfurt Motor Show 2007. The biggish wagon with 1660 litres of luggage space is a looker (scroll down to the RS6 Avant photo gallery below), and underneath its hood will be lurking a monster V10 engine producing 580 bhp. That’s supercar territory there! The actual launch is expected to be in April 2008.

The new V10 engine has FSI direct injection and twin turbochargers. The Audi RS6 Avant will offer permanent quattro four-wheel drive, and a sports suspension with a lot of electronic tinkering systems attached. Engine compartment lid and the front wings are made of aluminium in order to reduce weight.
The next version of the Audi RS6 will only be available for purchase in Avant guise.

To haul all that 580 bhp the RS6 Avant puts on tarmac, Audi has provided the 20 inch wheels with standard standard 19-inch steel discs. There is also available an option of ceramic brakes.
